Evaluation and Elimination of Early-Maturing Male Salmon

Evaluation and Elimination of Early-Maturing Male Salmon

We use advanced techniques to detect and eliminate early-maturing males, known as "parr mature" and "Jack," which exhibit unique characteristics in freshwater systems.

This process optimizes resources and improves productivity, providing solutions and enabling mass removal if necessary.

Benefits

Reduction of Early-Maturing Males

Minimizes the presence of males with early maturity.

Resource Optimization

Enhanced use of resources and improved productivity.

Better Planning and Management

Precise adjustments in breeder management.

Reduction of Production Losses

Less negative impact on production.

How We Do It

In freshwater production systems, this technique allows early identification of "parr mature" and "Jack" males beginning puberty.

Before using ultrasound directly to assess the maturity state in male and female salmon of various species, we developed multiple correlations between qualitative and quantitative ultrasound parameters to evaluate specimen maturity.

These correlations are built from extensive data and situations, enabling us to establish detailed sampling and analysis procedures.
